Born into a family of potters that goes back eight generations,
Jasiu began his art making with clay at age three. At Rhode Island
School of Design Jasiu developed his skills in drawing, sculpture,
painting, printmaking and industrial design. He continued his studies
at The Art Academy of Pont-Aven, France under the tutelage of David
Lloyd and Lori Precious.
He apprenticed with potter Dennis Cooper in Tuscarrora, Nevada,
studied printmaking in Japan, still life painting in Poland and
taught ceramics in Kauai, Hawaii. In Milan he worked for Ettore
Sottsass Associates Architects as well as for Frank Gehry in Los
Angeles. His work has been influenced by extensive visits to Poland,
Greece, Japan and India.
Jasius paintings employ techniques based on the ancient craft
of scroll mounting and sumi-e painting. His compositions flow through
plant and animal realms with an energy that is both delicate and
powerful. These uniquely captivating paintings are original and
thought provoking.
Jasiu has exhibited at Gale-Martin Fine Art, Chelsea, NY; Taxdor
and Spendleman, SCOPE Miami; Glu Gallery, Los Angeles, CA and Exposure
Gallery, New York, NY.
Jasiu lives and paints in Brooklyn, New York.
